l'heure..Quelle heure est-il?

Quelle heure est-il?  (What time is it?)

--> Il est 7h05.  (It is 7:05)  [h = heure]

Telling time is easy because it is so similar to English...as long as you know your numers!

A few things to remember:

1- when writing time in French, replace the : with h (stands for hour/heure)
2- when writing minutes fewer than 10, don't forget the zero!  (7h01, 7h02....)
3- when saying it's 1 o'clock, un changes to UNE
Example:

4- lastly, when pronouncing the hour number, run that number's pronunciation into the word "heure" to make the sentence flow better.
Example:
1h
2h
3h
4h
5h
6h
7h
8h
9h
10h
11h
12h
13h
etc.

5- in Europe, they use the 24 hour clock. That means that after 12 noon, 1pm is called 13h, 2pm is called 14h, etc.

Here's a fun reminder on how to tell time if you are a skeleton!
